Goracon User, Installation & Maintenance Training

This two-day course provides participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to safely use, install, maintain, and thoroughly examine Goracon service lifts, specifically the GWB-250-SWP and GWB-450-SWP models. Delivered by Goracon-approved trainers, it combines classroom learning with hands-on training, covering correct installation, user operation, routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and detailed inspections to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable lift performance on site.


Course Information

    • Ensure Compliance: Meet legal requirements by ensuring that equipment is correctly installed and maintained.

    • Demonstrate Competence: Acquire the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to support competency in conducting installation, thorough examination, pre use inspection and maintenance of Goracon Service Lifts, in accordance with manufacturer guidance and legal requirements.

    • Promote a Safer Workplace: Fulfil your duty as an employer by implementing safe systems of work and ensuring that all personnel using, installing and maintaining Goracon Service Lifts are properly trained and qualified.

    • Lifting Engineers: Gain a clear understanding of the requirements and procedures for conducting thorough examinations in line with UK legislation.

    • Goracon Users: Learn how to identify risks and defects, and carry out effective pre-use inspections to ensure equipment safety.

    • Wind Turbine Technicians: Learn how to install, maintain and troubleshoot Goracon Service Lifts.

    • Site Managers: Enhance awareness of legal responsibilities, safety obligations, and risk management related to Goracon Service Lifts.

    • Safe Use: Comprehensive training on the safe handling and operation of the Goracon G-Service Lift, including correct procedures to minimise risks during daily use and ensure the safety of operators and nearby personnel.

    • Danger Recognition: Guidance on identifying potential hazards associated with the lift’s operation and environment, along with practical measures to prevent accidents and mitigate risks before they arise.

    • Pre-Use Inspection: Step-by-step instruction on conducting daily pre-use checks using Goracon’s detailed checklists, ensuring the equipment is fully operational and safe before every lift.

    • Documentation: Training on the preparation and management of essential documentation and paperwork, including inspection reports, maintenance logs, and certification records required for compliance and traceability.

    • Installation and Maintenance: Detailed instruction on installing and maintaining the lifts according to Goracon’s official operations manuals, ensuring that all mechanical and electrical components are correctly fitted and serviced to maintain performance and safety standards.

    • Safety: Comprehensive coverage of general safety principles relevant to lift operation, including awareness of environmental factors, safe working distances, emergency procedures, and an overview of key product safety features designed to protect users and equipment.

    • Assembly and Disassembly: Practical guidance on the correct procedures for commissioning (assembly) and decommissioning (disassembly) of the lift, ensuring all steps are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

    • Troubleshooting: Instruction on identifying common faults, diagnosing problems accurately, and performing necessary repairs or adjustments to restore lift functionality and minimise downtime.

    • Wire Rope ISO 4309: An overview of ISO 4309 standards for wire rope inspection, focusing on criteria for assessing wire rope condition, recognising defects, and determining discard or replacement needs to ensure safe operation.

    • Thorough Examination: Training on how to conduct thorough examinations as required by relevant health and safety legislation, covering comprehensive inspection techniques, record keeping, and reporting to ensure ongoing compliance and operational safety.

  • Each participant must pass a theory assessment to demonstrate a solid understanding of the course content.

    They must also successfully carry out pre use inspections and annual maintenance tasks.

  • There are no prerequisites to attend this course.

  • Contact Hours Inclusive of Breaks: 14

    Course timing: 9am - 4pm (End times can vary depending on course participant numbers and experience)

    Arrival Time: Course participants should arrive at 8.45am prompt.

  • Please ensure you wear safety boots when attending this training course.

    For those attending training at the Certex Training Academy, all other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided. However, you are welcome to bring your own PPE if you prefer.

    If the training is being conducted at your company's site, please consult your employer regarding the specific PPE requirements in accordance with your company's site safety policy.

    Each participant is required to produce photographic ID on the first day of the course. Failure to do so will result in the participant being unable to participate.
