Crane Supervisor Training

This intensive three-day LEEA-accredited Crane Supervisor course is designed for individuals responsible for supervising crane operations in compliance with LOLER and BS 7121. Targeted at those overseeing lifting teams on site, the course combines focused theoretical training with practical supervision exercises. Delivered by experienced trainers, course participants will develop the skills and confidence to effectively manage crane activities, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Key topics include crane operation supervision, risk assessment, communication protocols, equipment selection, personnel coordination, and safe work practices.

Ensure LOLER Compliance: Meet the requirements of the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) by ensuring all lifting operations are carried out safely and that equipment is fit for use.

Ground Bearing Pressure: Confirm calculations for outrigger mat sizes and ground bearing pressures imposed by lifting equipment.
Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS): Understand how to identify risks and apply mitigation methods as detailed in paperwork provided to the crane supervisor.
Crane Duty Charts: Possess a basic understanding of Crane Duty Charts and their application.
Hand Signals: Review standard hand signals used to communicate during lifting operations.
Sling Configuration: Learn various safe sling techniques for different lifting scenarios.
Load and Centre of Gravity Calculations: Learn how to accurately estimate load weights and calculate the centre of gravity to ensure safe and balanced lifting operations.
Load Considerations: Understand special considerations when lifting different loads, including the lifting of persons.

Each participant must pass a theory assessment to demonstrate a solid understanding of the course content.
They must also demonstrate the ability to accurately develop a Lift Plan and use it to safely coordinate and execute a live lifting operation.

This course is not intended for beginners in lifting operations. It is strongly recommended that participants have prior experience or qualifications as a Slinger/Banksman or Crane Operator.

Course Timing: 9am - 4pm (End times can vary depending on course participant numbers and experience).
Arrival Time: Course participants should arrive at 8.45am prompt.

Please ensure you wear safety boots when attending this training course.
For those attending training at the Certex Training Academy, all other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided. However, you are welcome to bring your own PPE if you prefer.
